Cheri & Turner were in Mullaghmore in Sligo on Saturday & Sunday, 18th & 19th of June 2016.

What they taught…

The elegance and ease of Greenland strokes: canted, sliding, vertical, bow & stern sweeps, bow & stern rudders, sculling draws.  The balance brace, sculling brace, chest scull, as well as low, high, and deep pry brace recoveries.

The Greenland rolling repertoire: layback, forward, and sculling rolls with the paddle, norsaq, hand and more.

About Cheri Perry & Turner Wilson

Cheri and Turner run Kayak Ways, a venture based on the notion that the traditional kayaking skills of the Inuit seal catchers offer valuable lessons for the modern day recreational kayaker. For the last ten years they have travelled worldwide teaching these uniquely consistent and practical kayaking skills.

Cheri competed in the Greenland National Kayaking Championships in 2004 & 2005 and is widely regarded as one of the best Greenland style kayak rollers in the world.

Turner is one of those rare paddlers outside of Greenland who began paddling with a traditional blade.  He makes skin-on-frame kayaks and also competed in the 2005 Greenland National Kayaking Championships in Paamiut.

Mullaghmore

With fantastic views of the Sligo/Leitrim mountains, Mullaghmore is a beautiful and sheltered harbour. There are 2 hotels in the village, hostels nearby and plenty of space for campervans.
