Escape from the hussle and bustle of the city for a couple of hours and see it from the water. Our Discover Sea Kayaking sessions give you a taste of the fun, adventure and coastal exploring that is sea kayaking. We introduce you to the best way of exploring Ireland's coastline. We’ll have some fun on the water, learn new skills and discover the wonderful marine environment around Dalkey.

Dalkey is a treasure trove for wildlife, especially considering it’s so close to the city. There are usually 10 to 30 seals around the island and lots of gulls and terns nest during the spring and summer and quite often we get to paddle with the three Killiney Dolphins.
The Discover Sea Kayaking sessions give you a taste of what sea kayaking is about and last for 3 hours (the Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions are slightly shorter due to sunset).
*DL indicates the session runs from our base in Dun Laoghaire.

On Discovery Two, you'll learn how to control your kayak more efficiently and easily. We'll get you paddling further and faster with as little effort as possible. We'll help you to paddle the kayak in wind and how to enjoy the thrills of downwind paddling. You'll also be introduced to tides and weather while having a nice paddle around Dalkey.

Discovery Three is the final session in the Introductory series and you'll learn more about safety, including how to rescue other kayakers and how to be an effective part of a group. You'll also be taught how to stop yourself capsizing and will be brought into more wavey conditions to practice your new skills.

*DL means the session runs from our base in Dun Laoghaire.
