Course

Information

We'll introduce you to the best way of exploring Ireland's coastline. Sea Kayaks can go where no other craft can, nosing into the smallest nooks and crannies, yet still able to cover 30 kilometres in a day.

Evening Courses

These courses are run one evening a week for two weeks and we then do a full day at a weekend. You can choose a Tuesday or Thursday course.

Weekend Courses

Saturday and Sunday - if youre short of time, this is the one for you.

Social

On the last day of all courses, we provide soup, sandwiches and tea/coffee on getting off the water in a local hostelry.

Where do we go?

We start near Dun Laoghaire, which is the most sheltered part of Dublin Bay. There well show you the basics. Then we move south to paddle around Dalkey Island (right) and Muglins which is great for wildlife interest with lots of seals and seabirds.

What do you need to bring?

Very little. A pair of runners, a swimsuit and a fleece or thermal top. We provide kayak, paddle, wetsuit, buoyancy aid, waterproof jacket and spraydeck.

Who are the instructors?

All our instructors are qualified to teach and lead on open water by the Irish Canoe Union. On sheltered waters, the ratio of student to instructor is never more than 6:1 and on open water, its never more than 4:1.

Our guys have huge experience that theyre happy to share with you. They have paddled in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, British Columbia, New Zealand and Cape Horn in Chile.

What will you get out of it?

Hopefully a lot of fun! Were also very big on safety although we dont go on about it.

Youll learn how to handle a 5 metre sea kayak with confidence and in a variety of conditions. After the course, youll be able to go on camping trips which explore the Irish islands, some inhabited, some deserted.

All you need is a sense of adventure and a willingness to learn.

How do you get more info?

Call Des Keaney at the office number +353-1-2760263 or on his mobile at +353-86-8205627.

See you on the water!
