What are the qualifications? Level 3 courses allow you to become a competent member of a group and introduce you to tides, weather and more challenging conditions. Level 4 courses are designed to make you an independent paddler. This is the standard to which everyone should aim. You cover trip planning and more advanced skills, including towing and rescues in bumpy water. Level 5, the top level, is a two pronged award. A high level of personal proficiency is required and you are also trained in group leadership. Level 5 courses are run in conjunction with top sea kayaking coaches from around the country. Level 3 Training, €195 Sat 6th & Sun 7th August, 10-5pm Sat 10th & Sun 11th Sept , 10-5pm Level 3 Skills evening (for those who have done L3 training), €50 for one session or €90 for both) Tue 7th June, 7pm Tue 14th June, 7pm Level 3 Assessment (half day), €45 Thur 16th June, 7pm Tue 12th July, 7pm Thur 25th August, 7pm Level 4 Training, €195 The next course is on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th of August. The Coastal Navigation course is a prerequisite and will be on the evenings of Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th of August and costs €70.
